Caroline Friedlander
Licensed Massage Practitioner
Dr. Caroline Friedlander (ND, LAc, LMP) is a licensed naturopathic doctor and acupuncturist whose primary focus is on fertility and women’s healthcare. Caroline has extensive experience in the western clinical sciences and strives to balance this approach with natural therapies that support the body’s own inherent healing abilities. She is one of a few Naturopathic doctors who completed a student internship at Planned Parenthood of Western Washington where she refined her clinical skills and training in women’s healthcare. Caroline has studied with fertility specialist Angela Hywood, ND, Jane Lyttleton, author of “Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine” and Giovanni Maciocia, author of “Obstetrics and Gynecology in Chinese Medicine”.
Caroline recently returned from China where she completed post-doctorate training at Ruijin Hospital through the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In December, she will intern at the Jocelyn Centre for Natural Fertility Management in Sydney, Australia to enhance her knowledge of comprehensive naturopathic care for fertility and reproductive health.
Caroline is also a licensed massage therapist who received her degree from the Brenneke School of Massage in 2002. Caroline spent several years providing massage therapy for hospice patients with Providence Hospice and was involved in a research study being performed by Bastyr University and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to determine the effects of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies in end of life care. She has found this work meaningful and inspirational and honors the intimate relationship that is formed by supporting others through life’s transitions. This passion led her to fertility work and focusing her massage training on Mayan Abdominal Massage (MAM). She is currently an apprentice to Dr. Rosita Arvigo.
Caroline received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (ND) and Masters Degree in Acupuncture from Bastyr University, the nation’s leading institution in natural healthcare. As part of her training at Bastyr University, Caroline completed internships at Harborview Medical Center, Highline Hospital, and Puget Sound Neighborhood Health Clinics. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from New York University with a dual focus on religious studies and healthcare. She has studied traditional healing methods in Kathmandu, Nepal where she performed research on the unity of Tibetan medicine and Buddhist philosophy. |
